Entertainment Bangalore Chennai and Tamil Nadu Delhi Hyderabad Thiruvananthapuram Action-packed thriller Trivikram Srinivas' `Athadu' is a perfect blend of action and romance genres of films. | I SPY Mahesh Babu and Trisha get cosy. Move over Shankar, here comes Trivikram Srinivas. The opulence in the palatial house set created for Sri Jayabheri Arts, Athadu, at the Jayabheri Estates in Nanakramguda says it all. Trivikram known for his light-hearted scripts and dialogues has started his career as a filmmaker with a light-hearted film Nuvve Nuvve but throws a surprise this time by opting for an action-packed thriller with action scenes (by Peter Heynes) said to be on par with such Hollywood flicks. "Add to that the stunning visuals (by cinematographer K.V. Guhan), the `realistic' and expansive sets (designed by Thota Tharani), and a mind-blowing performance from Mahesh Babu, you have a winner," smiles D. Kishore, who along with M. Rammohan produces this extravaganza, as he leads us inside the huge set. After walking through the long corridor, we reached a spacious and well-done-up area where the director is shooting a song sequence. Apart from the lead pair, Mahesh Babu and Trisha, a host of other lead actors including Nasser, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Giribabu, Dharamavarapu, Sudha and Hema and others are on the sets. It looked like a family reunion or festivity and reminds you of such opulent scenes from DDLJ or K3G. The comparison ends there as master choreographer Raju Sundaram takes over and guides the artistes to the tune set by Manisharma. He had earlier given lilting tunes for Mahesh Babu in Murari and Okkadu. "We have completed the talkie portions and after this just one song remains to be filmed, a duet on the lead pair in studio sets," informs Kishore. He says the fight sequence shot for 27 days with 160 cameras and a 500 frame still camera is a major high and thrills the viewers when they watch it on the big screen. "Mahesh Babu's role has all the shades of emotions and it speaks less and does more. Trisha plays a traditional rural girl combining glam as well as performance. The perfect chemistry between Mahesh and Trisha on the sets helped the project shape up well." `Mahesh Babu joins in for a brief conversation. "When Trivikram narrated this subject to me, I was bowled over by it. It is on a different plane altogether. We have either action flicks or romantic love stories; rarely we find a perfect blend of these two genres. Trivikram has done it. Just watch it you love it. Trisha is a spontaneous actor. She can give any expression in a jiffy. We are planning to release the film on July 29, a few days ahead of my birthday on August 9 as a gift to my fans and movie buffs." Trisha who is about to join the revelry of song and dance again moving in toe with Mahesh Babu reciprocates the feelings expressed by the lead actor. "It is a challenge to meet the spontaneity and natural performance of Mahesh Babu. I am enjoying every bit of my role."The lights are on again. The camera whirrs to capture the entire cast present as the actors perform to the song played on the nagara. There are other actors who are not required for the day's shoot but have important roles to play — Prakash Raj, Sonu Sood, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Shayaji Shinde, Charan Raj, Rahul Dev, Jayaprakash Reddy and Brahmaji. The film is presented by actor-producer Murali Mohan. M.L.
